Founded by Ricardo “Coach Rico” Guimarães, CBD KANU was born from a life of dedication to performance and recovery. Rico was a standout volleyball player at the University of Hawaii, where he learned not only the discipline of athletics but also the Aloha Spirit — a way of life rooted in harmony, respect, and community. He went on to play professional volleyball both nationally and internationally, gaining first-hand experience of the physical toll and recovery demands faced by elite athletes.

That journey inspired Rico to search for natural, plant-based solutions that could help athletes, professionals, and everyday people push through life’s demands while restoring balance.
